Annual conferences can be a real cornerstone of managing and supporting a growing franchise network, and they are also the perfect opportunity for you to give your franchisees some excellent advice.
You want them to go away feeling fired up and ready to put new ideas into action. You know you’ve given them some great info, but they just don’t seem to be picking up on it. It’s a strange situation. After all, you’re an expert in this business and you’re just trying to get everyone to grow together in the best way possible.

There could be a number of factors behind this but, in my experience, a lot can come down to pure psychology, and how the message is perceived because it is coming from you – the franchisor.
Your franchisees might well be almost entirely independent business owners in their own right, and you probably have a great relationship with them, but it can be hard to get past the classic boss-employee dynamic that sometimes lingers. They can assume that if you’re giving them a message, you’re doing it for your benefit much more than for theirs.
Not true, of course – you both benefit from increased performance and sales, for example – but this underlying, often unconscious, bias can be hard for many people to move past.
